Vesterålen is a group of islands in Northern Norway, situated right north of Lofoten and west of Harstad.

Vesterålen boasts spectacular nature with steep fjords, tall moutains and many calm lakes. The nature is perfect for roaming about in, both for people who like to just go for a stroll and those who are keen mountain trekkers. Vesterålen has little artificial light interference and is therefore perfect for observing the Northern Lights in the winter.

There is plenty of fish in the sea, and fishing is how people have survived here for thousends of years. There is also an abundance of lakes for ice-fishing - and for angling during the summer.

Far North, But mild:

Vesterålen is located at the 68th and 69th parallels north of the Arctic Circle.

Though lying within the Arctic Circle, Northern Norway experiences one of the world's largest elevated temperature anomalies relative to its high latitude. This is due to the Golf Stream crossing the Atlantic and hitting the coast here. In the winter the temperature is around -2 degrees Celsius and 12 in the summer.
