Lofoten is an archipelago in Northern Norway, and it is situated next to Vesterålen and Harstad.

Lofoten is known for a distinctive scenery with mountains and peaks, open sea and sheltered bays, beaches and untouched lands. Fishing and tourism is the main industry here. The whole area inhabits 25 000 people.

Lofoten is located at the 68th and 69th parallels north of the Arctic Circle.

Though lying within the Arctic Circle, Northern Norway experiences one of the world's largest elevated temperature anomalies relative to its high latitude.
